New Orleans

Spring break in New Orleans with the kids means great fun for all.

Street Cars

We started our visit off in New Orleans with some Street Car fun heading up to the Garden District and then back to the French Quarter. While the street cars were fun they were not fast and we opted for driving the following day.

We got off and walked for several blocks in the gorgeous garden district.  Just beautiful.

Tate pretty much wanted every bead on the trees.

French Quarter Fun

We took the kids on a walking tour of the French Quarter and started down Bourbon Street.  I think a few of them may be scarred for life.

Family pictures at Jackson Square.  It has been almost 4 years since we had a family picture taken and we thought New Orleans would be the perfect place for pictures.  It was so much fun everyone needed a drink afterwards at Muriel's to listen to the street music and soak it al in.

This dog was was pretty darn impressive.  Loved that he never moved.

Lots of characters walking around.

Day 2 in New Orleans

We started the day off by a tour from the National Parks of the Riverfront.  We learned so much about the Mississippi and the history of New Orleans.

Our tour guide.

Our immigrant.

The kids in front of Jackson Square.

Harper was so excited to get a fresh made crepe and she got to watch it be made.

This man had pure talent and it was so much fun walking the open air market.

Sno-cone fun.

Watching Beignets being made at Cafe Du Monde.  The line was so long there was no way we could have stopped for some.

Thinking only tourists go to Mardi Gras World but we loved it.  So interesting to see them being made and just how massive and intricate the floats are.

King Cake and we did not get the baby.

This is the storage room for the floats.  Often they reuse and repurpose what was on the float.  Impressive that these were all made from hand.

First the structures are made from styrofoam and then paper mache and then painted.

The Mississippi river outside of Mardi Gras World.

Off to Tulane

Touring some old Cemataries

Two 11 year old boys thought this was the best name ever.

Several of the graves had been broken into and this one you could see the remains.

We were looking for a place to eat dinner in the Garden District and drove past an Ethiopian Cafe so we pulled right in.  Fisher thought our server was the coolest thing going on.

Stopping at a friend of Peter's from growing up to meet her darling daughter and they showed us a great view!
