Levi had not been feeling well the past couple of months and we kept thinking he would get better and even had an emergency trip to the vet one night with him. Saturday we took him to the vet and Dr. Langer was so compassionate and nice. He spent a lot of time talking with me about where Levi was at and we decided to take blood and a urine sample.
Today the results came in and we knew it was right to put him down. He had unregulated diabetes and his blood sugar was 550 and his urine had a lot of ketones in it. It would not be possible to regulate his diabetes and he was losing weight quickly, not really eating and just not feeling well. Dr. Langer recommended we put him down tonight so we would not risk something happening to him at home or worse when he was alone tomorrow.
He was a dog that never cried and never barked. The last few weeks he would be up several times a night crying, even the pain meds did not help him that much.
Levi, you were a wonderful dog. You were so kind, well behaved and you were loved so much! RIP, you will always be missed.

Harper calling Grandma to tell her the sad news and EB getting one last kiss and a selfie. |

Saying goodbye is never easy. |

Their tears could break my heart in two. |

Waiting for the vet or is it a table for everyone to hug him and love on him some more. |
|
So many tears. |

Resting and getting some more love before we say goodbye, one last time.

EB had many questions for the vet and he answered each and everyone of them. He explained why we could not give him medicine as he was too sick. The girls also asked if they could donate his body to science for others to learn. Be still my heart.....
